DominusJune 03, 2010 There are a ton of good wines out there, but here is a chance to have a
GREAT wine. I have a good friend in the business who turned me on to this GREAT
Napa producer. Below is a bit on the vineyard and the concept of one of the
greatest wines in the world.
The source for Dominus is the
historic Napanook Vineyard, one of the oldest vineyards in the Napa Valley that
has been in production since the late 19th century. Located at the heart of the
Napa Valley, the vineyard benefits from warm days but is kept cool by the
breezes that pass over the Mayacamas
Mountains.
Napanook vineyard is planted with the four Bordeaux grape varietals, 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and the remaining with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit-Verdot. Each block of the vineyard has been carefully planted with the best suited grape varietal for its specific soil. Christian Moueix believes this terrior and an intimate understanding of the vineyard help him and his team to produce outstanding wines. Dominus reflects the beauty of the Napa
terroir: smooth, warm and spicy with a hint of
chocolate - the trademark of this historic vineyard.
Christian Moueix recommends decanting this wine 2 hours
prior to serving, to allow it to develop its full
potential.
